Kagodu Thimmappa clarifies his statement on Yeddyurappa

BELAGAVI: Assembly speaker Kagodu Thimmappa revealed that he sent a proposal to the government for constructing 200 legislators’ houses in Belagavi near Suvarna Vidhana Soudha (SVS).
Addressing the media persons here on Friday, after inspecting preparation of monsoon session scheduled from June 29th to July 10, Thimmappa said “I have sent a proposal but still government not taken any decision on it”.

He also added, like Bengaluru city was focussed for development following the establishment of Vidhana Soudha, Belagavi should also be developed, where sessions are held once or twice in a year. “Shortly, I will meet CM Siddaramaiah along with legislators of this region in this regard seeking special package for ring road project and other development works”, he said. Meanwhile, he instructed public works department (PWD) to sanction Rs 2 crores to take up immediate required infrastructure works in city like filling potholes and repair of drainages.
Thimmappa denied speculations about extending session for 20 days in Belagavi saying he has no proposal from government so far in this regard. However, government should take call in this regard. He also approved compensation for the land owners surrounding SVS, whose crops were damaged by the agitators.
Commenting on proposed massive rally and Marathi convention of Maharashtra Ekikaran Samiti (MES) on first day of session, Kagodu Thimmappa said in democracy everybody have freedom to speak and agitate in the limits of law. In case of violations, law will take its course.
Responding to question about arbitrary expenditure of some ministers made during past winter session held in Belagavi, Thimmappa passed buck on government saying that making facilities to the ministers during session doesn’t come into his limit. He is only liable to the facilities provided to legislators.

Speaker praised ‘Bhagya’ schemes of government: Following the ongoing controversy erupted with the criticising of ‘Anna Bhagya’ scheme by the noted writer S L Bhyrappa, Speaker Kagodu Thimmappa praised various ‘Bhagya’ schemes of the government including ‘Anna Bhagya’.
There is no wrong in providing two times food to poor and hungry people under ‘Anna Bhagya’ and supplying milk under ‘Ksheera Bhagya’ to school children to prevent them from malnutrition. These are the programmes of CM Siddaramaiah, who is grass root level fighter, he said.
He also clarified on his earlier statement about former CM B S Yeddyurappa. “I just told Yeddyurappa is a fighter and he spent his entire life fighting for people. I had told if he continues his fight he may become CM again in future. But I have never told it is better if Yeddyurappa is CM”, he clarified.
