Waaree Energies, an Indian solar-technology company, has commissioned a 10-MW solar power station at Latur in Nanded, Maharashtra. The project has been developed for local construction company Sharda Construction (SCCPL).

SCCPL, which had won the contract for the project under Domestic Content Requirement (DCR) category of Jawaharlal Nehru National Solar Mission, Phase 2, Batch 1, awarded the engineering, procurement and construction contract for the plant to Mumbai-based Waaree.

According to a statement issued by Waaree, the project was completed in less than 90 days despite “challenging conditions it faced, including folded land and an extreme slope with a catchment area at the bottom.

Besides providing EPC services, Waaree is also engaged in the production of solar modules. It operates a 500-MW photovoltaic module factory at Surat in Gujarat. The firm also supplies rooftop solutions and solar water pumps.

Waaree, founded in 1989, is spread over 20 locations nationally and 68 countries internationally.

In January, Waaree announced that it was developing 44-MW (AC) projects in Central Japan. The company was to sell power at the plant at the Feed-in-Tariff of 36 yen per kWh under an agreement with Tokyo Electric Power.

The projects are scheduled for completion next year. Waaree Japan has been pursuing a pipeline of 200 megawatts in Japan for this year. The country has been a key market for Waaree, besides the UK, Americas and the Middle East.
