    Sensex surges over 250 points, Nifty hits 8,250; RIL breaches Rs 1,000 mark

    The S&P BSE Sensex surged over 200 points in intraday trade today. The 50-share Nifty index also reclaimed its crucial psychological level of 8250.

    NEW DELHI: The S&P BSE Sensex gained over 250 points in intraday trade today. The 50-share Nifty index breached 8250 level in intraday trade.

    Investors seemed like throwing to wind Greek woes over the debt deal.

    Asian markets were mixed for the day, with the Chinese benchmark Shanghai Composite cracking 6.4 per cent for the day. Japanese Nikkei ended 0.9 per cent higher while Hong Kong's Hang Seng was up 0.35 per cent.

    Benchmark Shanghai Composite Index fell over 6 per cent, or 248.4 points, to 4,532.23. Shanghai Composite has plunged 12% since June 12 highs.
