Paws to remember the Alamo

Bella roams the grounds of the historic fortress (AP)

The Alamo has a new official cat - a calico puss named Miss Isabella Francisca Veramendi de Valero. But visitors can call her Bella.

Rodent hunter Bella's appointment was announced by the Texas General Land Office, which oversees the state-owned landmark in San Antonio, a former Roman Catholic mission and fortress compound and the site of the Battle of the Alamo in 1836.
