REASI, June 18: District Drama Festival at Jyotipuram organised by J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages was inaugurated by Sushma Chouhan, Deputy Commissioner, Reasi today in the NHPC Auditirium, Jyotipuram.
Shree Prakash, Chief Engineer, NHPC, Salal and Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Sedretary, J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages were also present in the presidium.
While speaking on the occasion, Sushma Chouhan complimented J&K Cultural Academy for organising this festival in this area and hoped that this will continue as a regular feature in future also. She further said that in this festival the artists of Reasi District alongwith the artists of Udhampur and Kathua Districts will get an opportunity to perform and know more about the modern theatre, new trends and techniques used in the modern world theatre in general and Indian theatre in particular.
Earlier, while welcoming the distinguished guests, artists and audience, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn said that J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages is organising District Drama Festival at Reasi after a gap of eight years to revive and provide a space to the artist community of the region where they can perform and also have an interaction with the each participating theatre group.
On the inaugural day, Tripple A Performing Arts, Reasi presented Solution X, a play in Hindi written by Badal Sircar and translated in Dogri by Vijay Goswami under the direction of Raja Aamir Khan.
The artists who performed include Dr Uplaksh Kotwal as Chunni Lal Mahajan, Susheel Raina as Rakesh Khajuria, Sars Bharti as Guddi, Surya Salathia as Meenu, Saugandhi Mahajan as Gudiya, Susheel Manhas as Dr Jamwal, Rohit Handoo as Ganesh, Nitish Sharma as Bittu, Pooja as Geeta and Sahil Mangotra as Romesh. Music of the play was designed by Rohit Verma, Aashima Bali designed the set, Make up by Parveen Akhtar, Costumes by M Rashad,. Lights by Uplaksh, sound by Vijay Goswami and property by Sahil Abrol. The play was directed by Raja Aamir Khan and assisted by Uplaksh Kotwal.
Tomarrow, Hadsa Haqeeqat, a play in Dogri will be staged by Sabrang Kala Sangam, Reasi under the direction of Rajesh Ajnabii.
