: The Sunni cultural centre, Markazu Saquafathi Sunniya, headquartered at Karanthur in the district will spend Rs. 60 lakh on various relief activities during the holy month of Ramzan, a release from the centre said here on Thursday. This will include distribution of free food for people from economically backward segments of the community, religious harmony meets, ifthar parties, distribution of dress materials and moral study classes during the holy month.
The centre will organise ifthar get-together parties for more than 5 lakh people in different parts of the country. Special food kits for economically backward people in different States, including Bihar, Assam, Bengal and Hariyana, will be distributed during the period. The centre has also decided to bear the food expenses of as many as 450 Rohingya community members living in relief camps in Delhi and Hariyana during the entire month of Ramzan, said the release. Relief activities at the national level will be carried out by specially trained volunteers of the centre in collaboration with the Relief and Charitable Foundation of India. The centre will also organise ifthar parties in select mosques.
