“Most of the complaints were from Hadapsar and its surrounding areas. Also, we noticed that despite the fact that June 18 was the last date, there was a long queue of students at centres to get the forms approved. Keeping in mind that no student should miss out on the process, we decided to extend the deadline,” said Jadhav.

He explained that if students had failed to procure the admission booklet, containing log in details and password besides instructions to fill the forms, they could get it between 10 am to 1 pm at the main centre of Garware College. Besides, the nine zonal centres will be able to provide booklets, depending on availability.

“By 2 pm, the students are expected to get the option form approved and by 5 pm, the final submission must be done online. There shall be no extension again. The first merit list will be declared on June 25, after which students are expected to secure admissions to the colleges allotted to them by paying a nominal fee of Rs 50,” said Jadhav.

While the entire schedule of the admission process has been pushed back by a day from the earlier schedule declared by the CAP committee, Jadhav stressed that there would be no delay in the commencement of college, scheduled for July 15. “Those students who get admission in the fourth round can join the college after a few days,” he said.

Till 6.40 pm on June 18, a total of 70,405 forms were approved out of the 72,105 forms that had been logged in. Of these, 66,165 forms were submitted. As many as 72,105 seats are available in 218 colleges in the city.

Meanwhile, Jadhav also confirmed that all four rounds of the Class XI admission process would be done online, as per the latest directions of the Bombay High Court. Asked about the in-house, minority and management quota admissions, ongoing in certain colleges, Jadhav said the colleges had been told to ensure that all details of such admissions were entered in the online data of the deputy director’s office. “A flying squad has been constituted to visit these institutions and inspect if they are following the procedure. If we find them violating the norms, the admissions conducted by them will be considered illegal and necessary action will be initiated against them,” he said.
