Archana Ramasundaram out of CBI, made NCRB director

Chennai: Senior Tamil Nadu cadre IPS officer DGP Archana Ramasundaram was moved out of CBI and has been appointed as director, National Crime Records Bureau. At CBI she was not allowed to function as the investigating agency had locked horns with Central Vigilance Commission (CVC) and home ministry over her appointment, and also because of the suspension order issued by TN government, for deserting her post in the state government.

The officer from the 1980 batch was appointed as additional director in CBI in February 2014. She was not assigned any work on the direction of the Supreme Court, which is hearing a writ petition against her appointment.

Her appointment is subject to the outcome of the writ petition pending in the Supreme Court. CBI bosses waited for nearly one and half years before deciding to have a working additional director rather than Archana Ramasundaram, who was without any assignment.

According to an order issued by department of personnel and training, the appointments committee of cabinet has approved lateral shift of Ramasundaram from the post of additional director, CBI to hold director general or equivalent level post at the Centre.
