Gurdeep Singh Khera has been in jail for 23 years.

After transferring Davinderpal Singh Bhullar, convicted for the the 1993 Delhi bomb blast, from Tihar Jail to Amritsar Jail, the Punjab government is preparing to move another terrorist Gurdeep Singh Khera.

Sources told Mail Today that Kheras transfer has been delayed due to the long distance (nearly 2,000 km) between Gulbarga Jail and Amritsar. Khera's journey, which was expected to begin on Tuesday, has been delayed due to conveyance problems.

Sources said the Karnataka Police are yet to decide the mode of journey as using escort vehicles could be risky. The police are now planning to take him in a train.

All legal and official formalities have been completed. The transfer will now depend on the availability of adequate police force to escort the prisoner to Punjab,?? ADGP (Prisons), Karnataka, Kamal Pant said.

Gulbarga Jail Superintendent, M Sundar refused to share Gurdeeps transfer details but confirmed that he will be transferred within a week.

We have received orders. We are making arrangements to transfer him. The reservation has not been confirmed yet. I cannot share details of the mode of transport and exactly when he would be shifted,"

Sundar added. Kheras transfer from Gulbarga Jail to Amritsar Central Jail was approved by the Karnataka government on June 12 with all procedural formalities. Sources said Karnatka government has already informed Punjab government that Khera will travel in a train and will reach Amritsar.
