Archana Ramasundaram out of CBI, appointed NCRB director

Appointed Additional Director in CBI last year, Ramasundaram had not been assigned any work on the direction of the Supreme Court.

Moving her out of the post of Additional Director in the CBI, the Centre has appointed 1980-batch IPS officer Archana Ramasundaram of the Tamil Nadu-cadre as Director of the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB).

Appointed Additional Director in CBI last year, Ramasundaram had not been assigned any work on the direction of the Supreme Court, which is hearing a writ petition against her appointment. Her appointment last year had triggered a controversy with the CBI locking horns with CVC and MHA over the choice.

The Appointments Committee of Cabinet approved her shift to the Director General or equivalent level post at the Centre, the Department of Personnel and Training said.
