MSEDCL engr held in farmer’s suicide
Akola: The Hiwarkhed police arrested MSEDCL assistant engineer Sandip Ghode from Nagpur on Wednesday in connection with the suicide of farmer Vinod Kharode. Ghode was produced in court and remanded to police custody till Thursday.
Ghode had been absconding after his anticipatory bail plea in the matter was rejected. After being arrested in Nagpur, he was brought to Akot court which granted with two days police custody remand (PCR).
Another co-accused in this case, deputy executive engineer Rajendra Raut is still absconding.
Vinod Kharode (24), a farmer, had committed suicide after he was denied electric connection for his agricultural pump. Vinod had been requesting MSEDCL officers to provide him an electric connection for two years. Ghode had asked for a bribe of Rs30,000. The young farmer committed suicide on May 19.
