An animal charity has offered a £1,000 reward for information linked to suspected badger baiting in Flintshire.

An inquiry was triggered when residents of Ffordd yr Ysgol, Flint, found a dead badger in a pool of blood on Saturday.

The RSPCA said it suspected the animal had been made to "fight until the death" with an injured dog discovered nearby.

Animal welfare charity PETA has now offered money for information leading to the conviction of those responsible.

'Sadistic and violent'

The RSPCA called such baiting a "serious form of premeditated cruelty".

The dog - since named Flint, after where he was found - was taken to a vet for treatment and is said to be "doing well", despite having suffered serious injuries.

PETA spokesperson Elisa Allen said: "It is imperative that any community faced with sadistic and violent acts such as this take measures to find the culprit or culprits and bring them to justice".

Anyone with information is urged to contact the RSPCA on 0300 123 8018.
