VADODARA: A leopard fell into a dry well at Piplod Panchela village of Devgadh Baria taluka of Dahod district on Tuesday morning. Concerted efforts were on to bring it out till late in the evening.
According to sources, the leopard was found in the well at around 4 am. Officials of the police and the forest department were informed about the incident and an operation mounted to rescue the leopard.
Initially a cot was lowered in the well to try and bring out the leopard. But when the leopard did not climb on to it, officials made a long ladder by tethering smaller ones with each other. Even this had not worked till late in the evening.
Sources said the well was 40 feet deep. Prima facie it did not seem that the leopard had any major injuries. It may have fallen into the well as it may not have noticed it in the darkness or may have been chasing a prey.
