BAHRAICH: Chief minister Akhilesh Yadav said his government was with journalists and justice would be done after completion of investigation in the Jagendra Singh case. “My party and government would not tolerate any illegal activity and injustice to anyone. Journalist Jagendra would also get justice. Let’s be patient as investigation into the case is underway. The government is with the journalists and there would be no compromise on their security,” Akhilesh said here on Tuesday while responding to the queries of reporters.

“Development of villages, attending to the poor and downtrodden and taking the state on the path of prosperity are my government’s topmost priority. The aim of Samajwadi Pension Scheme, 102, 108 ambulance service and Lohia Awas Yojana is to provide relief to the poor,” said Akhilesh, who was here on a private visit to attend the wedding ceremonies of the daughter and niece of Samajwadi Party (SP) MLA from Balha (reserved) constituency Banshidhar Bauddh.
The chief minister said his government has done a lot of development work in the state and unfinished projects would be completed soon.
He also inspected the eco-tourism development projects and Alligator Centre under the Katarniaghat Wildlife Sanctuary and issued necessary instructions to the officials. While listening to the problems of the locals, he ordered officials to resolve them out at the earliest.
Akhilesh reached the residence of Balha MLA at Tediya village in Nai Basti at 9:30 AM as per schedule. He was welcomed by the MLA and district administrative officials. He stayed there for about half an hour and then left for Lucknow after blessing Poonam and Pramila, the daughter and niece respectively of Bauddh. Minister of state Yasar Shah, Pandit Singh, S P Yadav, divisional commissioner Devipatan Ravi Prakash Arora, IG (Zone) Gorakhpur Amitabh, DIG J P Singh, district magistrate Abhay Kumar, S P Neha Pandey, DFO wildlife Aashish Tiwari, Shravasti MLA Haji Mohd Ramzan and SP district president Ramtej Yadav were also present.

Shahjahapur-based journalist Jagendra Singh was allegedly set on fire during a police raid at his house in Awas Vikas Colony of Sadar Bazar area on June 1. His family alleged that the police officials set him on fire. Singh succumbed to the injuries on June 8. Among others, an FIR has been lodged against minister for backward classes welfare Ram Murti Singh Verma by Jagendra’s son.
