Accused in child abuse case produced before CJM, Imphal East

IMPHAL, June 16: Altogether 10 accused in a child abuse and domestic violence case were produced together before the court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Imphal East today.

The 10 were produced in connection to a case of assaulting a juvenile working as a helper at the Wangkhei Angom Leikai residence of one of the accused identified as Irom Lokendro.

Meanwhile, the court today fixed the first charge hearing of the case CRIL (P) case no 22 of 2015 for June 22.

The accused are identified as Irom Lokendro Singh, 53, son of (L) Gulap of Wangkhei Angom Leikai, his wife Irom ongbi Chitra Devi, daughter Leima Irom, 21; N Naoba Singh, 21, son of N Rameshwar of Kwakeithel Akham Leikai; Laishram Popo Singh son of Ibomcha of Uripok Yambem Leikai; Moirangthem Karnajit, 21, son of Kanhai of Uripok Sorbon Thingel Leikai; Hawaibam Boinao, 21, son of Jiten of Uripok Yambem Leikai; Salam Bidyachandra, 21, son of Surchandra Singh of Uripok Yambem Leikai; Raj Nongthombam, 21, son of Manichandra Singh of Thangmeiband and Razat Chungkham, 21, son of Nickel of Thangmeiband Meisnam Leikai.

On May 29, the court had summoned all the accused following the submission of the charge-sheet by the police.

The alleged incidents of torture occurred on August 10, 11 and 12 in 2013 while the juvenile was staying as a helper at Lokendro`™s residence. He was staying there since 2010.

It may be mentioned that volunteers of a local club and Child Line Imphal had admitted the boy into a hospital after club members found the boy taking shelter at the club premises. The boy had allegedly fled from the house after being physically tortured and treated inhumanely by the accused.

He was charged of stealing Moirangthem Karnajit`™s father`™s ATM card, although the card was neither recovered from his possession nor any money withdrawn using the card during the said period.

On getting information of the incident, the boy`™s brother Rajkumar Subedi had lodged a First Information Report with the Porompat Police on August 18, 2013 under FIR no 233(8)2013PRT PS U/S 368/326/34 IPC & 23JJ ACT.

On October 23, 2013, District & Session Judge, Manipur East had provided anticipatory bails to the accused.
