SRINAGAR, June 16: Several deputations today called on the Chief Minister, Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, and presented their memoranda relating to their concerns.
Minister for CA&PD and Tribal Affairs, Ch. Zulfkar Ali, Minister for Public Works, Floriculture, Gardens & Parks, Syed Altaf Bukhari and MLA Zadibal, Abid Hussain Ansari, were also present on the occasion.
A delegation of religious scholars from Pir Panjal submitted a representation highlighting their demands related to the overall development of their region, in particular education sector.
Mufti Sayeed called upon the delegation to focus on improvement in the quality of education so that the students are able to seek higher studies in prestigious institutions like Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University at Rajouri.
On the demand of streamlining transport service between Rajouri and Srinagar on the Mughal Road, the Chief Minister issued directions to the Transport Department to immediately fix rates of public transport vehicles to facilitate the people.
In his meeting with sajada nasheens of various Ziarats of Kashmir Division, the Chief Minister was requested to issue directions for maintenance of Wakf properties in a professional manner. They also demanded construction of strong rooms at various shrines to safeguard the holy relics from natural calamities like fires and floods.
The delegation requested the Chief Minister to improve facilities at various shrines by way of construction of wuzu khanas and sarais.
Those who met the Chief Minister included sajada nasheens of ziarats at Makhdoom Saheb, Ziarat Sharief Ashmuqam and Jenab Saab, Soura.
A deputation of KMD Association, led by its chairman, also met the Chief Minister and demanded a special economic package for purchase of vehicles, against those which have been condemned. They also requested for allotment of a suitable piece of land to run their services.
Pertinently, on the basis of High Court directions, the State Transport Department had issued notification to condemn all commercial vehicles which were more than 25 years old.
The Chief Minister assured the delegations that he will look into the demands raised for immediate necessary action.
