MYSURU: Three miscreants assaulted a cab driver near Nanjangud forest on Saturday night and drove away in his car. The trio rented the cab on the pretext of visiting a private hospital in Mysuru to meet an ailing relative.
On Saturday morning, one of the miscreants rented the MUV from a travel agency from Sultan Bathery, which is run by Subhash. He told Subhash that his relative has been admitted at Vikram Hospital and that he has to pay the medical bill and get him discharged.

Subhash sent his brother Sudhesh to drive the MUV. When the vehicle approached Begur in Gundlupet taluk in Chamarajanagar district, the miscreant stopped the vehicle and two others who introduced themselves as his relatives got in.
The cab reached Vikram Hospital at around 4.30 pm. The trio went inside hospital and returned after an hour. They said they wanted to go back to Kerala. When the car approached Yediyur near Begur taluk, miscreants told the driver to take Hosaveedu route. When the car approached the forest area, one of the miscreants tried to strangle the driver from behind, using a rope. Sudhesh stopped the vehicle and managed to jump out. But the trio caught him and Sudhesh was beaten badly.
Somehow, Sudhesh managed to escape. After nearly an hour, Sudhesh reached Yediyala village. A truck driver dropped him at Hullahalli police station, where he registered a complaint.
