MUMBAI: A 34 year old lady was killed after falling off a running outstation train in the platform gap at Diva on Sunday.
Railway officials said the deceased, Sakshi Kadam, who stays in Titwala, was traveling from Ratnagiri to Thane by the Rajyarani express. As the train was slowing down near Diva station around 6am, she tried to alight from the train.
However, before she could alight, the train picked up speed and lost balance and fell in the train-platform gap and got crushed under the wheels. Police rushed her to the nearest hospital where she was declared dead.
In the past, a 50-year-old woman died on the railway tracks at Diwa station in February 2 after slipping into the gap between the platform and the train footboard.
