Kollam book fest tomorrow

The annual five-day Kollam Book Festival will be inaugurated by writer K.R. Meera at the CSI Convention Hall here on Wednesday. The festival is being organised by the Kollam District Library Council.

Council president P.K. Gopan said that about 75 publishers would participate in the festival. Mayor Honey Banjamin will inaugurate the book sale. Kalamandalam Akshaya will stage Mohiniyattom in the evening on the first day as part of the cultural events being held in connection with the festival.

Kollam MP N.K. Premachandran will launch new books of publishers on June 18. On June 19, K.N. Balagopal, MP, will inaugurate the commemoration meetings. The first meeting will commemorate Justice V.R. Krishna Iyer and the second one will commemorate Yusufali Kecheri. Poet Kureepuzha Sreekumar will inaugurate the Kavi Sammelanam. On June 20, district panchayat president S. Jayamohan will inaugurate the kathaprasangam competition.
