NAGPUR: The state directorate of medical education and research (DMER) released revised results of MH-CET exams on Monday after resolving problems pertaining to a disputed question. Amit Dashputra and Devashree Kadu are city toppers with 199 and 198 marks (out of 200) respectively, with addition of one mark as decided by DMER.
Amit is the regional topper while Devashree has topped among girls in Vidarbha.
Both occupied top positions when results were first announced on June 5.
DMER has faced a lot of criticism over wrong questions and grace marks in the exam conducted on May 7, results for which were announced on June 5. The dispute found its way to the Bombay High Court, which directed DMER, the competent authority for medical admissions, to constitute a high powered committee.
DMER then roped in Grant Medical College dean Dr T Lahane, who said that the right answer to the disputed query about plasma cells was not among the four options provided with the question. He recommended that two of the options were close to the correct answer, and therefore those who marked them should be granted marks.
The selection process for admissions to MBBS courses would be conducted by filling preference form at centres such as Government Medical College, Mumbai; BJ Medical College, Pune; Government Medical Colleges in Nagpur and Aurangabad. The notification to this effect would be issued soon on the website www.dmer.org.
