6-hour jam on T-B Road due to overturned truck

NAVI MUMBAI: A truck carrying onions to APMC market from Nashik overturned on Ghansoli flyover and brought the traffic on Thane-Belapur and Mulund-Airoli roads to a halt for more than six hours. The incident occurred at around 6.30amwhen traffic flow was not much. But the on-duty towing van was too small to tow away the heavy truck, which blocked the Belapur-bound corridor after crashing into the divider.“We had to pull the truck off the road and then streamline the traffic,” said Balasaheb Gade, inspector, Rabale traffic unit.
Mahape and Rabale traffic units brought two hydraulic cranes to tow the truck but by then the morning peak hour traffic was lined up till Airoli on Thane-Belapur Road and till Diva Circle on Airoli-Mulund link road.
“I was late for work on the very first day of the week due to the traffic jam,” said Mahendra Sharma, a motorist.
