NZ FMA shakes up executive team

New Zealand’s Financial Markets Authority (FMA) has announced appointments and a new role within its executive team.

Liam Mason becomes Director of Regulation on July 1 – an expanded role after the authority dropped the director of compliance position.

He was previously general counsel and director of governance, policy and strategy (GPS).

Joanne Davis-Calvert is Acting Head of GPS. Garth Stanish moves from head of markets oversight to Director of Markets Oversight, a new role on the executive team that takes in the New Zealand stock exchange and crowd funding and person-to-person lending platforms.

Former director of market engagement John Botica becomes COO, taking in market engagement. Diana Christensen becomes Director of People and Capability.

FMA CEO Rob Everett says the moves are a response to the Financial Markets Conduct Act, which took effect in stages last year.

All other executive team members remain in their positions.
