No input to CSG on missing aircraft: ADGP

June 15, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:44 am IST - TIRUCHI:

Despite its relentless search operations to trace the missing Coast Guard aircraft along the vast coastline from Puducherry to Nagapattinam, the Coastal Security Group (CSG) is yet to get any input on the Dornier.

Nothing concrete and credible has emerged so far for the CSG which has deployed its fleet of Fast Interceptor Boats (FIB) to carry out the mission in the 12 nautical miles from the shore along the vast coastline. Working in tandem with the Indian Coast Guard in search operations, the CSG has been dispatching 10 Fast Interceptor boats every day in search of the missing aircraft in different spots from Puducherry to Nagapattinam.

Besides, the CSG embarked on search operations through para-motoring at different areas from Cuddalore to Nagapattinam for four days taking into account the wind directions. The searches were done at Point Calimere in Nagapattinam district and Pichavaram mangrove forest areas besides engaging scuba diving teams. The FIBs have been moving in the CSG’s territorial jurisdiction of 12 nautical miles from the shore in the eastern areas at different spots in a bid to trace the aircraft. Yet, the CSG is yet to obtain anything credible regarding the missing aircraft, the Additional Director General of Police, CSG, C.Sylendra Babu told The Hindu on Sunday. On Sunday too, an FIB from Nagapattinam zone undertook search operations off the Nagapattinam coast towards Nagore. A senior Coast Guard officer said search operations continued in full swing in coordination with various agencies from Puducherry to Karaikal.

“The Coast Guard has been carrying out its operations day and night in search of the aircraft,” he added.
