The three were killed by PCJSS at Golachherhi near Bhaibonchharha in Rangamati's Longdu Upazila early on Sunday, UPDF spokesperson Michael Chakma told bdnews24.com.

Longdu Police Station OC Abul Kalam Chowdhury told bdnews24.com that a police contingent recovered the bodies.

The PCJSS has however denied the UPDF charge.

But Michael Chakma said that UPDF activists were in a house at Golachharhi for organisational work when it was attacked by PCJSS gunmen.

He said the three UPDF activists killed were Juddhomani Chakma, Rupamoy Chakma and Sumon Chakma.

Michael Chakma said the attackers later set fire to the house and fled.

"Gunmen loyal to PCJSS leader Santu Larma were responsible for the attack," he alleged.

But PCJSS spokesperson Sajib Chakma said none of their activists were involved with the attack. He termed the UPDF allegations as 'baseless'.

The PCJSS, which fought a bloody 22-year bushwar against Bangladesh security forces between 1975-1997, returned to normal life after a pact with Dhaka during the first term of Sheikh Hasina's prime ministership.

But ever since then, they have been engaged in a bloody feud with the UPDF in the Chittagong Hill Tracts.
