No Robbie Keane, Shane Long or Aiden McGeady in Ireland team to face Scotland

Republic of Ireland manager Martin O'Neill has sprung a few surprises for today's crunch European qualifier against Scotland, with captain Robbie Keane named on the bench.

Ipswich Town striker Daryl Murphy has been chosen to lead the attack in favour of Ireland's record goal scorer and Southampton striker Shane Long. We Hoolahan is expected to play just off Murphy, though may switch with Jon Waletrs during the game.

In midfield Aiden McGeady has also been omitted. The Everton winger had been struggling with a hamstring injury and Jeff Hendrick will line-up in midfield with Glenn Whelan, James McCarthy and Walters.

The back four is as expected with Seamus Coleman and Robbie Brady occupying the full-back slots with Marc Wilson and John O'Shea in the heart of the defence.

In goals O'Neill has decided to away Shay Given his 130th international cap.
