Cristiano Ronaldo was on hand to rescue Portugal in their Euro 2016 Qualifying fixture against minnows Armenia.

Marcos Pizzelli scored a screamer of a free kick to give the Armenians the lead, but they were powerless to stop Ronaldo swinging the momentum back towards the Portuguese.

He scored from the sport to level proceedings just before the half-hour mark, and put his side ahead 10 minutes after the break, finishing right-footed from inside the area.

The Real Madrid man saved his best strike until last, powering home a 30-yard thunderbolt into the top corner, leaving the goalkeeper absolutely no chance.

Armenia did pull one back 19 minutes from time through Hrayr Mkoyan, after Tiago had been given his marching orders for Portugal for a second bookable offence.

The strikes were Ronaldo's 53rd, 54th and 55th strikes for his country, taking him further clear of Pauleta as his country's record goal scorer.

The results maintains Portugal's position at the top of Group I, taking them on to 12 points from five games, after unexpectedly losing their first fixture to Albania.

Armenia stay bottom, having accrued just a solitary points from their opening five matches.
