Two property offenders involved in five house-breakings and three automobile theft cases were caught by the Cyberabad police on Wednesday. A Hyundai i20 car, two motorcycles and electronic items all worth Rs. 20 lakh were recovered at their instance.
Kattela Anoop Kumar alias Raju alias Tinku (24) of Uppuguda and his associate Nalla Ranjith Kumar used to go around localities during the day and take note of houses which are locked. “During the night, they used to break into the house and make away with the property when the occupants were away,” DCP (Crimes), Dr. B Naveen Kumar said.
Two held for fraud
Two persons, who allegedly duped students by providing them fake educational certificates, were arrested by the Cyberabad police on Wednesday. A laptop, cell phones and a few certificates were seized from them. The accused – Naseem Banu (35) along with Mohd Khader (30) – began S.K. Institute of Professional Studies at Malkajgiri a month ago. Naseem contacted representatives of a Delhi-based institute of professional studies and obtained certificates from them after depositing the fees in two bank accounts, the police said. “The duo collected huge sum of money from students and job aspirants for supplying the certificates of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith – Varanasi, a fictitious university. Five persons were given the certificates till now,” Additional DCP (Special Operations Team) E. Ramchandra Reddy said.
SOT team arrests 18
The SOT (west) team arrested eighteen persons on charge of betting on cockfighting at Errakunta under Pahadishareef police station limits. Acting on a tip off, the SOT officials raided a garage at Bismillah Colony in Errakunta and found the accused gambling. The alleged organiser, Abdullah Sayeed, invited people to participate in the cockfight betting. He specially bred the cocks for fighting, the police said. They recovered about 15 cocks and cash Rs. 22,000 during the raids.
Two held for murder
The city police on Wednesday arrested two persons on charge of killing their step-mother over a property dispute at Uppuguda a week ago. The accused – D. Mahesh Naik (23) and D. Naresh Naik (22) – both auto drivers, allegedly attacked their step-mother Vijaya Bai on June 4 over a property dispute.
