Chemmeen’s golden jubilee to be celebrated

The golden jubilee of the release of Chemmeen , the award-winning film by Ramu Kariat, will be celebrated here on the death anniversary of actor Sathyan, one of the film’s lead actors, on Monday.

Madhu and Sheela, who had played the other lead roles in the film, and playback singer Latha Raju and still-photographer Sivan, both associated with the film released in 1965, would be felicitated at the function. The Kerala Cultural Forum is organising the programme.

Forum president A.P. Jalajakumar said Speaker N. Sakthan would inaugurate the event and Culture Minister K.C. Joseph would honour the guests.

A pension scheme for indigent artistes, being launched by the forum, would be inaugurated by R. Selvaraj, MLA, by handing over Rs.1,000 to Kuttiyedathi Vilasini at the function.
