The Fiji Rugby Union heaped praise on the Telecom Fijiana for their efforts throughout the 2014-2015 Women’s World Series.

Speaking at a cocktail held by Telecom Fiji Limited to celebrate the national women’s team and the Telecom Fijian Warriors team, Fiji Rugby Union chief executive officer Radrodro Tabualevu acknowledged the work put in by the players as well as the management.

“This is a team that is not always well-resourced given the stable of teams inside the FRU,”he said.

“And we really would like to acknowledge the hard work put in by the co-managers Betty Blakelock and Selita Koroi as well as the coach Iliesa Tanivula.

“At times, they’re not always fully appreciated but they are always putting in the extra effort to showcase the wonderful talent and the wonderful spirit of our young women. I also must commend the players for their everyday effort to fit in a 102 year-old entity that is traditionally a very male-dominated organisation.

“They’ve done a good job so far and the support of Telecom Fiji has definitely helped their efforts.”

Tabualevu was confident in the team as they would head to the Pacific Games as a good build-up to their final bid for a spot in the 2016 Rio Olympics at the regional qualifier in November.

The Telecom cocktail was held at the Holiday Inn Suva on Thursday.
