Islamia College lifts ‘White Water Rafting Marathon’ title

SRINAGAR, June 11: In continuation to the efforts of Tourism Department to revive adventure tourism in the Valley, the Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir and J&K Ski and Mountaineering Association conducted first-ever 15 kilometers “White Water Rafting Marathon” at Wussan in Ganderbal district amongst the large number of tourists.
On the occasion, Deputy Director Tourism (Recreation), Zargar was chief guest while Ex-Managing Director CNE, Abdul Rouf was guest of honor.
Islamia College won first position, while Adventure Tour Operators Association of Kashmir lifted second position and Fort City Club clinched third position.
Keeping in view the best performance given by the youngest team of Kashmir Harvard School the guest of honor Rouf Ahmad awarded Rs1,000 to the team.
All the winning teams were awarded medals and trophies on the occasion.
President JKSMA assured that more such events would be conducted after Ramadhan.
Among others present were President ATOAK Rauf Tramboo, President JKSMA Muhammad Yusuf, MD CNE Nasir Shah, MD Highland Excursions Mehraj Din, Physical Director Islamia College Altaf-ur-Rehman, Director Kashmir Adventures Hakeem Rinku, Asstt Tourist Officer (Recreation) Naseer Ahmad Mir and some other dignitaries.
