Alka has mostly played negative character on screen and she says it’s not easy to play a vamp. “It requires a lot of hard work and home work to play a negative character. I derive my inspiration from negative news items and real life characters. I have spent my childhood in Allahabad and Lucknow and from the very beginning I used to copy the nakhras and adaayein of the ladies in my neighbourhood. This is how I mastered the ability of playing negative roles with complete finesse,” she says.

She recently got an opportunity to work with her favourite actor Salman Khan. “I don’t miss any of Salman Khan’s movies. I am lucky that I got a chance to act with him in this soon-to-release film,” gushes the actor who began acting when she was just a kid.
“I used to accompany my father to his theatre rehearsals. I don’t know when I developed an interest in acting but I started enjoying it and wanted to pursue it. But when my father came to know about my interest he told me categorically to complete my studies first. So, I went to Delhi and dabbled in theatre there and eventually moved to Mumbai,” says she.
