Angered by the accidental death of a farmer, residents of Halebidu staged a protest by stopping all KSRTC buses on Wednesday.

Vedamurthy (45), who was working in his agriculture field, adjoining the Hassan-Halebidu Road, was hit by a KSRTC bus. He died on the spot due to negligence of the driver. The bus ran into agriculture field as the driver lost control over the vehicle while negotiating a narrow curve.

Within minutes after the accident, people gathered in huge numbers at KSRTC bus stand in Halebidu and stopped all buses for about two hours. Blaming the negligence of KSRTC driver for the accident, protesters demanded the Road Corporation give compensation to the victim’s family. Police officials were successful in intervening and controlling the situation.

Halebidu police have registered the case.
