67 bighas earmarked for power plant in Spiti village

KULLU: Ravi Thakur, MLA, Lahaul-Spiti Assembly segment-cum-vice-chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, said today 67 bighas had been earmarked for setting up of 2 mw solar power plant at Rangreek village in Spiti subdivision of Lahaul and Spiti district.

Ravi Thakur, MLA, Lahaul-Spiti Assembly segment-cum-vice-chairman of the National Commission for Scheduled Tribes, said today 67 bighas had been earmarked for setting up of 2 mw solar power plant at Rangreek village in Spiti subdivision of Lahaul and Spiti district.

The power plant would be set up at a cost of Rs 32 crore.

He said one machine of the solar power plant would begin by June 15 and the remaining three units would be made operational by the end of this year.

He said the power plant would provide major relief from the electricity problems being faced by the people the valley, especially during winter.

He visited over 10 villages today and listened to the grievances of the locals.

He said the authorities of the Public Works Department (PWD) had been advised to expedite the construction of the 23-km long Kyoto-Chicham and Kibber roads to be constructed at a cost of Rs 6.5 crore under the aegis of the Pradhan Mantri Gram Sadak Yojana.

He said the construction of the Chicham bridge to be built at a cost of Rs 3.5 crore would be accomplished soon.

Administrative authorities of various departments accompanied the MLA.
