Vadodara Police arrested 15 persons a day after incident of communal clash in Fatehpura area of Vadodara.

Those arrested are Pintu Rana, Kanaiya Rana, Jitu Kahar, Suresh Kushwaha, Mahesh Gaderao, Vikas Kahar, Yashwant Savle, Firoz Mansuri, Vasim alias Goli, Anwarmiyan Sheikh, Muhammad Siddiq alias Samir, Muhammad Mansuri, Vasim Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, Asif Dudhwala, Munaf Pathan, Sajid Malek and Sultan Sattar Mistry. More suspects are wanted.

Police had to lob 28 tear gas shells to control the mobs of two communities on Sunday night. Police identified total 45 rioters.

The communal clash erupted in Alifnagar char rasta, Fatehpur char rasta, Koyli faliya, Fatehpur Ranavas, Suthar Faliya and Hathikhana areas after Shiv murti in communally sensitive Lal Akhada area was found broken at around 9.30 pm. A bike and a house were set on fire by rioters. Heavy stone pelting had erupted between mobs of both communities.

Broken murti was replaced with a new one with mantra chanting ceremony.

State Reserve Police(SRP) force was deployed in riot-hit area. Additional DGP PP Pande, DCP North Lina Patil, ACP Saurabh Singh, ACP Crime MB Joshi, Crime Branch PI Vikram Rathod, City PI VP Parmar etc were seen doing foot patrolling on Monday morning. Additional 30 points of SRP are created in this area due to occasional incidents of communal clash here. Usually there are 10 SRP points in this area, now there will be 40.

Visiting ADGP PP Pandey told media persons that he had visited the place to get into the details that why this area witnesses communal violence frequently. He said he will hand over the probe report to DGP(state police chief). Pandey held meeting at Police Bhavan with JCP, DCP etc.

It was observed that many communally sensitive pockets in this area lack presence of CCTV camera. One camera near Fatehpura chowky didn’t give any result due to power cut masterminded by rioters.

Generally, Vadodara has been given three SRP companies but in view of frequent incidents of riots, the state police chief has permanently allotted additional one – total four SRP companies to Vadodara city police.
