Roopesh to be quizzed

Maoist leader Roopesh was on Monday remanded in police custody till June 15 in the case of an attack on a stone crusher unit at Nidumpoil here.

Additional District and Sessions Judge, Thalassery, V. Jayaraman on Monday said Roopesh could be questioned for one week in connection with the case of suspected Maoist attack on the stone crusher unit in January.

Though Roopesh was produced before the court on June 6, the the plea of the police to get the Maoist leader in custody for questioning was heard only on Monday.

The New Bharat Stone Crusher unit at Nidumpoil on the Koothuparamba- Mananthavady road here had come under attack on January 2. Roopesh was believed to be in the five-member group that attacked the unit.
