Man commits suicide

K. Nagaraj (61) of Thillai Nagar on Coimbatore Road in Pollachi committed suicide by consuming poison as he was upset over his inability to secure a seat for his daughter due to financial condition.

The victim was employed as security guard at Sundarapuram and his wife Pechi Thangam (40) was a labourer in a private company.

Police sources said that their daughter completed Plus Two this year and could not support her college education.

The man consumed poison at the Cheran Nagar Bus Stop on Thursday and died during treatment at the Coimbatore Medical College Hospital on Friday.

Police have registered a case.

Case against goldsmith

Bazaar Police registered a case against an employee of a gold smithy Rathish for not returning 125 grams of raw gold worth more than Rs. 3 lakh that his employer N. Ajeeth gave him a few weeks ago for making gold jewellery.
