Mrigasira Karthi buzz hits Khammam

June 09, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:47 am IST - KHAMMAM:

The area surrounding Palair balancing reservoir in Kusumanchi mandal witnessed brisk activity with a large number of people thronging the site to buy fish in connection with Mrigasira Karthi on Monday.

People from within the mandal and elsewhere in Khammam division flocked to the reservoir from early morning to purchase fish of their choice from the local fishermen. Cashing in on the huge demand for fish on the eve of Mrigasira Karthi, the season in which the sale of fish witnesses a quantum jump every year, the fish sellers sold their catch at a much higher price than usual, sources said.

Live korra meenu fingerlings, used in the distribution of the fish ‘prasadam’, were in high demand.
