JAIPUR: Giving a relief to the daily passengers who shuttle between different towns from various trains, the north western railways (NWR) on Monday decided access to these passengers in the sleeper coaches by paying some nominal charge.
The decision came almost a week after the daily passengers traveling between Jaipur and Phulera requested the railway authorities to allow them in sleeper class by paying some nominal amount.
Anil Singhal, general manager, NWR had traveled with his authorities in Jaipur-Bandra train in general and sleeper class to interact with the passengers to know their problems.
When contacted, elaborating on decision, Tarun Jain, chief public relations officer, NWR on Monday, said, “While celebrating the ‘Railyatri Pakhwada’ the GM along with his team had traveled in the general and sleeper class of the Jaipur-Bandra train upto Phulera. During this travel the passengers who daily use this train to go to their offices in Phulera had requested him to allow sitting in this train’s sleeper coach by paying some nominal amount. Thus, we worked it out and have decided only sitting to these passengers by paying Rs 15 extra.”
Earlier if any passengers having general class use to enter and travel in reserved sleeper class used to get penalized.
Thousands of train passengers travel to Jaipur from Phulera, Alwar, Chomu, Rajgarh, Bandikui and vice versa on daily basis to attend their government and private jobs.
“We have also identified the trains in which during morning and evening hours(office hours) usually the sleeper coaches have vacant berths while the general class remains overcrowded. Thus, in 14 selected trains the passengers can avail this facility by getting a general class ticket and paying Rs 15 per ticket,” Jain added.

The trains in which the facility would be available included Bikaner-Bandra upto Jodhpur,Bikaner-Secandarabad upto Jodhpur, Jaipur-Bandra upto Phalna, Jaipur-Ahmedabad upto Phalna, Bikaner-Delhi upto Delhi, Jaisalmer-Kathgodam between Jodhpur and Delhi, Jaisalmer-Delhi between Jaipur and Delhi and Jodhpur-Bhopal between Jodhpur-Jaipur.
“However, this facility would subject to availability as one of two sleeper coaches would be available to such passengers,” said an official.
