Did you know if you ever became an MP you cannot utter the names of a few personalities or use some phrases on the floor of the House. Well if you didn't, we have them listed right here.

According to a report in The Indian Express, the 16th Lok Sabha has expunged or not recorded as many as 206 words for being one of the following- derogatory, allegatory, unparliamentary, not in good taste or for being a reference to a stranger.

Although the list is long but it is interesting.

Surprisingly names of some famous personalities are also on the list including Mother Teresa, Indira Gandhi, Shah Rukh Khan and Hitler. For various reasons, these names were either deleted or not recorded when they were taken during House proceedings in the last one year. Adolf Hitler's name was removed for being derogatory, taking Mother Teresa or Shah Rukh Khan's name was considered reference to strangers which is why they were not recorded.

Similarly, there were other words and names on the list too. Shiromani Akali Dal MP Prem Singh Chandumajra’s reference to ex-PM Indira Gandhi was considered “allegatory remarks against a former Prime Minister”, therefore it was removed.

Words and phrases that were expunged for not being in good taste:

- TMC MP Saugata Roy’s "can I not call a thief a thief"

- BJP MP Anurag Thakur’s "ulta chor kotwal ko daante" and "chor chor mausere bhai" comment

- BJP MP Dileep Singh Bhuria usage of the word "jija"

- BJP MP Ramesh Bidhuri’s "kaale angrez aa gaye they Congress ke roop mein" remark

- CPI member C N Jayadevan’s comments that "it is like cats doing their sexual intercourse" and "that cats are angry but they are doing sexual intercourse"

- Congress MP Mallikarjun Kharge’s remark "kal ko mera gala ghont diya toh poora hi khatm ho jaunga".

Words and phrases expunged for being unparliamentary:

- Parliamentary Affairs Minister Venkaiah Naidu's use of phrases "najayaz aulad", "dhokha" and "dhokhebaaz pradhan mantri"

- Ramesh Ranjan's use of words "nange" and "dalaal"

- Use of phrases like "loot ki chhoth" by Yogi Adiyanath and SAD MP Harsimrat Kaur Badal's use of phrase "jhooth aur fareb dekhein"

- Words like "jhootha", "tai tai phiss", "jokeron", "chamchon", "jhooth", "hera pheri", “illiterate”, "gali-sadi", "besharam"

Many of these words were already noted under a previously constituted list of unparliamentary expressions, some new words were added since the 16th Lok Sabha was constituted a year ago.

The new list of words and phrases that were included are :

- “koyla chor”, “loktantra ka gala ghontna padega” and “khamosh raho, aapka munh band kiya jayega”

- “main chor nahin hoon, daaku nahin hoon” by BJP MP Bishnu Pada Ray.

When Congress MP Ravneet Singh Bittu’s used the word “RSS” it was erased from records for being an “insinuatory remarks against an organisation”. Use of the word “Saamana” by Congress MP Rajiv Satav and BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri was not recorded since it was a “reference to a newspaper”(Saamna is a Marathi newspaper owned by Shiv Sena). Trinamool Congress MP Kalyan Banerjee’s “bhaag Mamata bhaag” remark was not recorded since it was “against a Chief Minister”.

Lok Sabha also expunged words and phrases that were a “reflection on the Chair”, like Saugata Roy’s “please do not behave like a headmistress” and BJP’s Virendra Singh’s remark, “Jab aap wahan hote hain toh aapki tasveer doosri hoti hai. Aap baat karne nahin dete hain”.
