Accident leads to road-blockade

A pedestrian died on the spot after he was hit by a KSRTC bus near Veerapura in Belur taluk on Sunday night.

The police have identified the deceased as A.Y. Marulasiddappa (59), resident of Andale village. He was hit by the bus while he talking to a friend, Shantaraju, by the road.

Following this incident, residents of the village stopped vehicles on the road for more than an hour blaming negligence of KSRTC bus driver for the accident. Senior police officers reached the spot at night and convinced villagers to withdraw the protest.

Halebidu police have registered the complaint filed by Chandrappa, relative of the dead. The police have seized the bus.
