Oma J-Power nuclear power plant, Higashidori Tepco Power Plant, Recycled Nuclear Waste storage in Mutsu, MOXA Nuclear power plant in Rokkasho, The Shimokita Peninsula is scheduled to be one of Honshu's most densely packed nuclear hubs. Every time I drive to work, I wonder how long the pristine nature of this peninsula is going to last. The relatively active fault lines coupled with dense placement of nuclear facilities are one of the main reasons I would never purchase land here. Which is a shame, because it is my favorite part of Japan.

The magnitude keeps being revised. Yurekuru says its a 5.5 magnitude.
That area isn't very populated but the people up there are quite advanced in years. Hope they're ok.

Took the words right out of my mouth. Pristine, breathtaking wilderness up there.
If it's not safe to build NPPs there, where is safe?

It's unfortunate that most of northern/eastern Japan has been contaminated by nuclear radiation. I agree that this area of Japan is one of the best in terms of scenery.

And Abe, in his infinite wisdom (sarcasm) wishes to open up Japan's nuclear reactors!!

Much ado about nothing.

Because everything shifts to reactors safety after each stronger earthquake I would allow myself a remark. All reactors are 'live' and charged with nuclear fuel ever-since they were 'stopped'. They are just idling and not connected to the network. This doesn't make them much more safer! Even if decommissioning is decided it will take 30 years on average to make the given area relatively free of nuclear contamination. Now everyone can sleep calm (sarcasm)...

In the spring 5.9 little ground shaking helps pollinate flowers which means better fruit and vegetable season...

I didn't even know we had an earthquake yesterday. Didn't even feel it here in the Tokyo area.
