A month-long training on firing for police personnel commenced at the firing range at Pasumalaipatti near Narthamalai Hills near here recently.

Police personnel from all the stations will undergo the training, in batches, according to Ponnumalai, Deputy Superintendent of Police (Armed Reserve).

In the first batch, 91 police personnel of Armed Reserve wing underwent training today.

“All the 1000-odd police personnel in the district will undergo the training,” he said.

Officials in the cadre of sub-Inspectors and above undergo the training in handling pistols, constables in riffles, head constables and Grade I constables in AK 47, he said. The training was aimed at refreshing skills and knowledge of police personnel in firing.
