Apart from the presentation made by Dr. Kishan, the workshop held by INTACH featured a host of slideshows and presentations by young student volunteers of the INTACH Zilla Khazana programme. Each volunteer showed and explained the lesser known heritage sites in each district of Telangana.
Several pictures of various heritage structures in the State such as forts, Buddhist statues, mosques, temples, churches and others were showcased by them. They included places like the Dabeerpura Darwaza in old city, Nirmal Fort in Adilabad, Khammam Fort, Kaulas Fort in Nizamabad, lakes constructed by the Nizam kings, Warangal railway station among others.
Besides, Dr. Ruchi Singh, a post-doctoral research scholar from Osmania University, made a presentation on ‘Heritage and Buddhist sites in Telangana State’.
‘Safeguard structures’
Anuradha Reddy, co-convener, INTACH also said that bodies like the Wakf Board and Endowments Department must take responsibility of maintaining the upkeep of religions structures which are heritage sites.
