The Bodhan sub-division police led by Deputy Superintendent of Police K. Ramkumar arrested a ten member inter-State dacoit gang at Pothangal village in Navipet mandal on Saturday.
They stumbled upon them during the routine vehicle checking operation. Two tolas of gold ornaments, Rs.20,000 in cash, two Bolero vehicles, daggers and other lethal weapons were recovered from the offenders. The property recovered was robbed by them in a residence at Chandur village of Varni mandal a couple of days ago.
The gang lifted the Boleros from Hingoli of Maharashtra and was using for robbery and property offences.
Presenting them before the media persons here on Saturday, Superintendent of Police S. Chandrashekar Reddy said that the gang comprising 12 members was known as Sikkalkari gang belonging to Hingoli district. The notorious gang, which mercilessly attacks the victims earlier indulged in many property offences in Maharashtra, Karnataka and Telangana. For which they were sent to jail, but released on bail, he said.
The accused were identified as Tak Shankar Singh, Tak Azad Singh, Tak Roop Singh, Tak Kuldeep Singh, Tak Dara Singh, Tak Ajay Singh, Dhudari Sankar Singh, Daulath Giri, Deshmukh Gajanand and Saleem Pathan.
The Superintendent of Police commended the efforts of police personnel.
