The 21-year-old only needed two frames in the third session to secure his place, and he took less than half an hour to down the former world champion Dott with another scintillating display of confident potting.
Dott made the early break in the first frame of the final session, but could only break to 47 before letting Trump back to the table.
Trump never looked back, clearing the table up to pink for the frame, before rattling off a 78-break in the next frame to wrap up an utterly comfortable 13-5 victory.
He will face either Ding Junhui or Mark Selby in the semi-finals.
Second session report
Trump continued his impressive display but was denied an early finish with a session to spare by a spirited Dott who came close to a maximum.
The 2004 World Champion dispatched all the reds with blacks in frame fifteen but fell straight on the final black to prevent good position on the yellow.
It was a brave effort under the circumstances as the Scot had endured a miserable evening until that point. But a consecutive century (122) in the final frame of the evening restored pride and gave Trump food for thought.
The Bristolian heaped more pressure on Dott at the match restart by going 9-1 in front that included a 104 and increased Dott’s frustration to lead 11-2 before a late rally from the Scot.
First session report
Judd Trump stunned Graeme Dott with a brilliant first-session performance to lead 7-1 in their World Championship quarter-final at the Crucible.
The 21-year-old edged a scrappy opening frame without a significant break, before putting Dott into all sorts of problems with an inch-perfect snooker in the second.
The 2006 World Champion failed to recover, allowing Trump to take a 2-0 lead at the start of the quarter-final.
Dott made more of a fight of the third frame, but he was unable to finish off trump after securing a 52-23 lead, and the English qualifier duly snapped up the frame with a 33 clearance.
With a 3-0 lead, Trump knew that just one more frame would guarantee him at least parity heading into the second session, and break of 68 appeared to have settled the fourth frame, with 67 points left on the table.
However, a sloppy shot allowed Dott back to the table, and the Scott promptly rolled the white in behind the black leaving Trump snookered with one red remaining.
The youngster promptly missed the red, and Dott eventually secured a consolation frame after a nervy finish from both players.
If there were any questions being asked about Trumps composure after throwing away the fourth frame, he answered them with gusto on his return from the mid-session interval.
A break of 86 wrapped up the fifth frame for a 4-1 lead, and three more breaks over 50 handed the Englishman a stunning 7-1 lead over the former champion Dott - a feat made all the more impressive given how close Trump came to an 8-0 session white-wash.
