CORE to electrify Delhi-Ahmedabad route

The Central Organization for Railway Electrification (CORE) will electrify the Delhi-Ahmedabad railway route on Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, the first of its kind to be implemented in the country.

ALLAHABAD: The Central Organization for Railway Electrification (CORE) will electrify the Delhi-Ahmedabad railway route on Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) model, the first of its kind to be implemented in the country. In addition to this, electrification of the Ghaziabad-Moradabad route is also expected to be completed by September.
“Presently, only some sections of the 950-km Delhi-Ahmedabad stretch are electrified.
Under the EPC model, about 350 kms of the route will be electrified including the Delhi-Sarai Rohilla-Rewari, Alwar-Bandikui-Jaipur-Phulera and Phulera-Ajmer sections,” said CORE general manager Mahesh Mangal on Friday.
Mangal said that this electrification will be done on EPC model which is a turn-key project. “It is a new model of construction which results in accelerated pace of construction and development,” he added. He also informed that work of electrification of Ghaziabad-Moradabad route including Ghaziabad-Meerut city will be completed by September. “Electrification work on Varanasi-Phaphamau-Unchahar including Phapahamu-Allahabad has been completed and the entire section has been energized on 25 KV. CRS inspection of the section is planned after which trains with electric engine will be plied on this section,” he informed.
The electrification work in Chheoki-Manikpur-jabalpur-Itarsi including Satna-Rewa section is being executed on a priority. The electrification work is being done by diving the work in four subsections including Cheoki-Manikpur, Manikpur-Satna including Satna-Rewa, Satna-Jabalpur and Jabalpur-Itarsi.
In addition to this, various electrification projects of diverse routes throughout the country will be completed in the current financial year 2015-16. These would include electrification of Jammu Tawi-Udhampur-Katra, Rosa-Sitapur-Burhwal, Shoranur-Mangalore, Barauni-Katihar, Barabanki-Gorakhpur, Khana-Sainthia Pakur and Alwar-Rewari. He also informed that various projects for the benefit of the employees are being undertaken during the Rail Yatri Pakhwara organised by the Indian Railways. Yoga sessions for the employees were orgnaised and their medical examination was also conducted during this period. In addition to this, acupressure camps are also being organised for the employees.
