Demand not to drop cases booked against PFI, KFD

June 06, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:42 am IST - Shivamogga:

Members of the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and the Bhajaranga Dal on Thursday staged a protest here against the recent decision of the State Cabinet to withdraw cases filed against the members of the Karnataka Forum for Dignity (KFD) and the Popular Front of India (PFI) for their alleged role in the communal violence that erupted in Mysuru district in 2009 and in Shivamogga and Hassan districts in 2010.

Addressing the protest meet, president of the district unit of VHP Ramesh Babu said, the probe conducted by the police into the 2009 communal violence in Mysuru and the one that erupted in Hassan and Shivamogga districts in 2010 during a protest staged against an article published in a Kannada daily, had confirmed the role of KFD and PFI activists in them.

The KFD and PFI activists had assaulted civilians and the police during these incidents, he said.

The Congress government in the State had dropped the cases to appease a few organisations that were claiming to be representing Minority communities, he said and urged the State government to re-consider its decision on dropping the cases.
