GoI approves four ‘Common Facility Centers’ in Gujarat

The Government of India has approved ‘Common Facility Centers’ at four places in Gujarat for skill enhancement of diamond artisans.
Gems and Jewellery Export Promotion Council(GJEPC) had in its proposal before union Commerce and Industry ministry asked for grant to set up common facility centers at 13 places across Gujarat inlcuding Amreli, Junagadh, Ahmedabad, Palitana, Botad, Palanpur, Deesa, Jasdan, Savarkundla, Gariadhar, Visnagar, Bhavnagar and Mahua to provide technology and machine related knowledge to small diamond industries and rural artisans.
According to Chandrakant Sanghvi, regional director of GJEPC, the centre has in first stage approved Common Facility Centers at Ahmedabad, Visnagar, Palanpur and Amreli. The centre has also approved Rs 50 crore grant. In coordination with local association, GJEPC will start procedure to set up such centers.
