Aruna Shanbaug's assailant Sohanlal Valmiki loses job, shifts to Madhya Pradesh

Ghaziabad, June 5: Sohanlal Bhartha Valmiki, the man who in 1973, rendered a young 25-year-old nurse Aruna Shanbaug, bed-ridden in coma for 42 years, until she passed away at KEM hospital in Mumbai last month, is now a jobless and a homeless person.

After his dirty act was recently revealed, Valmiki was forced to quit his job, where he was working as a daily wage labourer at NTPC plant, earning Rs 4,000 a month.

His elder son, 26-year-old Krishna told a leading daily that his father has left the village and has gone to Madhya Pradesh to stay with relatives.

Last week on Friday, he also went missing for two days, when a TV crew, claiming to be media person, allegedly took hijm to Noida Film City Centre for his interview.

After committing the brutal crime, the perpetrator Valmiki was sentenced to seven-year jail term, after being convicted for assault and robbery. However, he was not charged for rape, sexual molestation or unnatural sexual offence. He was released in 1980.
