‘Send children to school’

June 05, 2015 12:00 am | Updated 05:48 am IST - Bidar:

Lack of proper education is the main factor for backwardness among minority communities, said Deputy Commissioner P.C. Jaffer in Bidar on Wednesday.

All-round development

Several studies by the Sachar Committee and other agencies have proved that improvement in education levels will lead to all-round development of the community, he said.

He was speaking after felicitating meritorious students from Urdu medium and those who scored high marks in Urdu, at an event organised by various organisations.

He urged the members of the Muslim community to send their children, especially girls, to school without fail. He asked students to learn English as it would provide them increased exposure and help in their higher studies. Around 64 students were felicitated.

Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer B. Sharat, Deputy Director of Public Instruction N. Chandre Gowda, Almas Foundation trustee Masihoddin Qureshia, Karnataka Urdu Academy member Mohammad and others were present.
